Finally...

Hey, guys!
After a half year break I'm back again!
I'll try to post more regularly from this time on, since next semester will most likely be much more stress-free than the previous. I have one or two finished projects to show you in the next few posts, including my first armour model done in a more or less professional way. I built my last tank when i was, like, fifteen or so, so this is quite new for me, too. ;)

I have some in-progress shots up at photobucket, which I'll maybe transfer to webshots, too, since they have a better embedding function than photobucket. I'll take some better shots of my previously finished stuff as well, as the existing ones are pretty mediocre in quality.

Some new WIP pics and reviews

Hi folks!
Just made some new pictures of what I'm working on at the moment.
I'm not all that happy with the Leutnant's face but since the eyes on him were a major pain in the arse to paint, I'll leave it at that. On the other hand, the Feldwebel's face came out really nice. I was also surprised at how easy it was for me to paint the pipings on the headdresses and uniforms. I always had problems with that. Anyway, enjoy a little bit of my work (and my messy workbench).

Suddenly, edits!

I spontaneously decided to do some reviews today! The items to be reviewed are two decal sets from Out of the Blue, the decal product line of Peddinghaus.

Waffen-SS Cuff Titles I

With this set you get cuff titles for 15 different divisions and regiments.
The decals are printed on one continuous carrier film, so you'll have to be careful whilst cutting them out. The print quality is very nice and with a price of 4 Euros it isn't too expensive, either.
In this set there are 8 "Germania" bands and 4 of every other division, making a total of 64 cuff titles.

Waffen-SS Nordland Division Insignia

This one's a real eye candy. First off, there are not only decals for the Nordland division, but also for at least 3 others like Wiking and some strange ones I haven't seen before. In this set there are insignia for at least 68 (!!!) figures, including helmet markings, breast eagles, cuff bands and others. The print quality is a bit sloppy on some of the thin white lines, but overall, it's pretty good.
The price on this one was 8 Euros.
I think over the next few days, I'll look up the insignia I'm unfamiliar with, maybe you'll be able to help me recognizing them.

Germanic Warrior by Pegaso Models

Hi there!
Welcome to my new modelling blog!
I finally decided to create one, so I can share my stuff with you guys.
First off, a beautiful figure by Pegaso Models. I bought it on the fifth of January 2007, my nineteenth birthday, on a trip to Berlin, where a monthly IPMS Germany meeting took place. I started it maybe a week after I bought it and until last week it just sat there on my shelf, waiting to be completed. I took quite a long break from modelling due to my graduation from the Gymnasium, then I moved from Schwerin to Rostock and started studying information technology. I just finished my first semester, so now I have some time for modelling again. Of course I first finished this little guy. Okay, enough of the chit-chat, on to the pictures.

I "stole" the idea for the shield drawing from G. Bradley Spelts, who posted his pictures on www.planetfigure.com (great site!)

A close up of the mud. It's made from ground pastel chalks, fine sand, ground leaves, PVA glue and water. The oak leaves are from plus model.
